What To  Wear

Black-Tie Optional Evening Garden Celebration

We invite you to dress in black-tie optional attire. Tuxedos and floor-length gowns are welcome, and dark suits with formal evening dresses are also perfectly appropriate.

Think timeless elegance, soft romance, and a touch of old-world glamour. We’re so excited to celebrate with you under the open sky, dressed for a beautiful evening together.

Q&A

What does Black-Tie Optional mean for this wedding?
Black-tie optional attire is formal, refined, and evening-appropriate. For this celebration, tuxedos and floor-length gowns are encouraged, and dark suits with formal evening dresses are also perfectly appropriate. We’re envisioning looks that feel elegant, romantic, and special for an evening event. See below for examples.

Are dark suits acceptable instead of a tuxedo?
Yes. While tuxedos are welcome, a very dark, well-tailored suit in black, charcoal, or midnight navy with a formal shirt and tie or bow tie is perfectly appropriate.

Are midi-length or cocktail dresses appropriate?

For this celebration, we kindly ask guests to wear floor-length or maxi dresses. Shorter or cocktail-length dresses are better suited for less formal events, and we’re hoping to create a cohesive, elegant evening look for our celebration.

What colors or styles feel most in line with the event?
We love classic silhouettes, flowing fabrics, and romantic details. Elegant colors, soft pastels, muted tones, refined florals, and subtle prints are all welcome. When in doubt, think evening elegance rather than daytime wear.

Is the celebration outdoors?
Yes, both the ceremony and reception will take place outdoors. We recommend attire that feels formal while still being comfortable for walking on grass or natural terrain. Block heels, wedges, or dressy flats are a great option.

Should I bring a jacket or wrap?
Evenings may cool as the night goes on. A formal wrap, shawl, or jacket that complements your look is encouraged.

Are there any items guests should avoid wearing?
We kindly ask guests to avoid casual attire such as sundresses, short dresses, khakis, sport coats, casual footwear, or sneakers.
